Childhood obesity
Recently, Dr. Stephanie Walsh, medical director of Child Wellness at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, opined that the parenting, eating and health care habits of “Honey Boo Boo” are the norm in Georgia.“Honey Boo Boo” is the 7- year-old beauty queen Alana Thompson, break-out star of the television show “Toddlers and Tiaras.” In one recent episode the child’s family prepared for her a meal/plate of butter, ketchup and pasta. Other shows have Alana drinking a sugary concoction of Mountain Dew and Red Bull, called “Go-Go Juice.”
Walsh consistently preaches about the effects of childhood obesity.
However, Walsh is wrong when it comes to Newnan. The habits of “Honey Boo Boo” are not the norm, and the citizens of this town know the difference between television programming and reason.
If Walsh was to write the material, I will get it used in my church. If Walsh would sponsor and give the executive chef seminar, I would work diligently to get her the audience.
There are valuable lessons to learn here today. Anytime you point a finger at someone, remember, there are always three fingers pointing back at you, and actions speak louder than words.
