Queen drops in to open Olympics

As one of what the TV commentator said “was about a billion people,” I watched the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics held in London.
The games were under way in what I considered during my travels as one of the great cities of the world.
There was a “stunt” which was very original and executed to perfection. It involved the man who plays the part of James Bond, who was shown flying his helicopter over the stadium with Queen Elisabeth aboard and at the precise scheduled moment the royal highness (or a double who looked very much like her) parachuting out of the copter to officially open the event.
I am sure there were many who thought it was actually happening.
Everyone knows that the Queen of England is always “dropping in” on the opening of something in Great Britain.
She is a remarkable lady. Even at her advanced age, she keeps a hectic schedule cutting the ribbon and officially opening everything but a hatbox. With all her hats, she just automatically opens a hatbox.
The irrepressible Queen tries to be available to all of her people and has attended more events than perhaps any other monarch.
Which may have established her among the most popular queens in history.
Her motto seems to be: “If it’s important to you, it’s important to me.”
