Small business success key to once again seeing our economy flourish

May is national small business month, a time when our community and the nation focuses on this major sector of our economy, which is vital to jobs and economic recovery.
In a letter in the May issue of Georgia Trend magazine, Gov. Nathan Deal salutes small businesses.
“Year after year, small businesses in Georgia remain a primary component of our state’s economy and have consistently employed more than 80 percent of our workforce,” said Deal. In our effort to make Georgia the number one place in the nation to do business, we find that small businesses are leading the way.”
Not only is Deal and the state recognizing the importance of small businesses, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce is putting the spotlight on our community’s small businesses during May with a series of programs culminating with the inaugural SouthTowne Motors-sponsored Small Business of the Year awards program at 7:30 a.m. on May 22 at Central Educational Center.
We would encourage all small businesses to contact the Chamber today and find out more about the series of programs throughout May geared to help your business.
It’s important to recognize small businesses and to provide programs -- like the Chamber is offering -- to help these businesses succeed.
As our governor points out, small businesses are a primary component of Georgia’s economy. A whopping 80 percent of the state’s workforce is employed by small businesses. That’s why this segment is so vital.
Our economy will flourish when small businesses flourish. When small businesses flourish, more jobs will be created and our overall economy will once again flourish.
