Public Safety Appreciation

This is the week. This week we are celebrating Public Safety Appreciation Week, and we recognize with great pride all those who are protecting us all hours of the days and the nights.
In a proclamation recently issued by the Coweta County commissioners, “These professionals dedicate and often risk their lives to help defend, protect and save our citizens in unseen ways and in dramatic times of crisis; and Public Safety professionals are often overlooked by the ordinary citizen until a crisis arises and they are called on to perform; and when such emergencies do arise, the value of these professionals is undisputed as time and again they lay their lives on the line to help their fellow man.”
The proclamation further states the commissioners call upon all citizens of Coweta County to observe this week of May 1 by celebrating the contributions of our Public Safety Professionals and thanking them for a job well done.
Please let your public safety workers know that you care. Display your Loyal Blue Ribbons. Wave at your law enforcement officers and at your firefighters. Give all of them a big smile; and if you are near them, tell them thank you.
You can show your appreciation by bringing a favorite dessert to the Coweta County Fairgrounds on Friday by 10 a.m. These desserts will be enjoyed by nearly 400 men and women who will be honored in a special luncheon on that day. Your name will be listed with “Our Sweet Friends” in the newspaper following the luncheon.
You can also contribute to the Newnan Coweta Public Safety Training Center Benevolent Fund by sending your check, no matter now large or small, to Post Office Box 1113, Newnan, Ga., 30264. You will be helping someone who has helped you in your time of need.
Remember, our public safety folks in your prayers and show your appreciation to them in this their week. I hope you will join me in letting them know how very grateful we are for their hard work.
