Obituary
Mrs. Ellen Doris Baxley Hammett (Mama Doris), age 88, of Sharpsburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. She was born to the late Sam and Kate Baxley on May 24, 1920, in Carroll County, Georgia. She retired from Playtex and was a member of Hope Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Marian Hammett Dudash (Joe) of Peachtree City; sons, Kenneth (Janette) Hammett of Grantville, Phillip (Bonnie) Hammett of Palmetto, Jerry Hammett, Ronald Hammett and Michael Hammett, all of Sharpsburg. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marion Euel Hammett; brothers, Harris Baxley, Guy Baxley, Tim Baxley and Grady Baxley; sisters, Sara Braswell, Nelle Holloway and Mary Elsie Camp.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. at Hope Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Hammett officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
