Mr. Samuel Walker Freeman Jr. Mr. Samuel Walker Freeman Jr., 81, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on November 13, 2009, after a brief illness. Sam was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on June 15, 1928, and spent most of his childhood years in Newnan, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Quillian Freeman and Samuel Walker Freeman Sr. of Newnan, and his brother, David Freeman, also of Newnan. Sam is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dora Freeman, and their children, Samuel Walker Freeman III and his wife Teresa Clark of Canton, Carol Freeman Ake and her husband Tim Ake of Woodstock, and Bob Freeman and his wife Grace Powell Freeman of Dunwoody. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Lauren Freeman Whittaker and her husband, Pace Whittaker, Stephen Ake, Colin Ake, Samuel Walker Freeman IV, Bryan Ake, James Freeman, Melissa Ake, Beth Anne Ake, Powell Freeman, Amanda Ake and Lewis Freeman. Mr. Freeman graduated from Newnan High School. He studied at Georgia Tech and is a 1949 graduate of Auburn University majoring in Electrical Engineering. He spent 38 years of his career employed in various engineering positions with General Electric Corporation. He and his family moved to Roswell, Georgia, in 1971, where they have made their wonderful home. Mr. Freeman was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia, serving as a deacon and in many other volunteer church positions. Graveside services will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Georgia, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia. Visitation with the family will be from 3-5 p.m. today, Nov. 15, at Northside Chapel in Roswell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be given in Mr. Freeman's memory to First Baptist Church, 710 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell, GA 30075 or the Offering for Global Missions at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, P.O.
