Mr. Thomas E. Brown Sr.

Obituary

Mr. Thomas E. Brown Sr., age 85, of Newnan, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Madras, Ga., to the late John Thomas and Florence Moore Brown. Mr. Brown retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 39 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a faithful member and Deacon of Headland Heights Baptist Church in East Point, Ga. He was a member of the American Legion Post 51 and the Masonic Lodge # 288 F.& A.M. both of East Point, Ga.

He is survived by children, Thomas E. and Carol Brown Jr. of Fayetteville, GA, Ricos and Deborah Kavadas of Newnan, GA, Ernie and Liz Bowen of Fayetteville, GA, Buck and Angie Sherman of Newnan, GA, Johnny and Kathy Brown of Newnan, GA. He was born 7th of 11 children. Surviving siblings include Agnes Newby of Fayetteville, GA, Henry & Christine Little of Chattanooga,TN, Betty Pierce of Snellville, GA and Wayne & Peggy Bechtel of East Palatka,FL; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Fowler Brown.

Funeral services for Thomas E. Brown Sr. will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Newnan. Mr. Brown will lie in state at the church from noon until service time, with Rev. Darwin Caldwell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan, GA.
