Mr. Marvin McArthur Barrett, of Newnan, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at home beside his family. Marvin Barrett was a hardworking, dedicated and loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. His family was his first love in life. He retired after 40 years as a carpenter and spent the remainder of his life enjoying his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching Western movies. His happiest moments were watching his children and grandchildren participate in their activities. He will be most remembered for his terrific sense of humor that always kept everyone laughing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Iola and Otis Barrett; siblings, Hazel Drennen, Betty Wells and Stoney Barrett, Stanley Barrett. He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Gladys Barrett of Newnan; children, Terri Barrett of Hapeville, Kimberly Worthy and her husband, Dave, of Rex, Stanley Barrett of Forest Park, Stacey Groover and her husband, Ronald L. Jr., of Newnan; grandchildren, Jamie Lee and Barrett Meyer; Brandon, Justin and Melissa Worthy; Heath, Jeff, Spencer, Makenzie and Meagan Barrett; Glavin, Karlee and Kara Groover; sisters Maxine Glines of Columbus; Margie Hilyer of Salem, AL. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Pastor Becky Jones officiating.
