Obituary

Mr. William "Bill" Ballard, age 70, of Peachtree Lake Drive, Sharpsburg, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008. He was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late William Newton Ballard Sr. and Minnie Lee Robinson Ballard. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Newton Ballard III. Mr. Ballard was a retired salesman and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He also attended Rock Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hawkins Ballard; son, John Benjamin Ballard of Sharpsburg; two grandchildren, Benjamin Andrew Page and Jessica Slagle; and a great grandchild, Julian Riley Slagle. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Mr. John Hawkins, Rev. David Ramey and Rev. Buddy Hammett officiating. Interment will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 3 until 7 p.m. Messages of condolences may be sent to the family at www.martinhightower.com.
