Mr. George E. Green
Mr. George E. Green, 92, born in Brooklyn, New York, and a resident of Newnan, Georgia, passed away on the morning of Nov. 17, 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lillian Green; daughter, Diane Pittman of Bowdon, GA; son, Michael Green and wife Victoria Pingree of Sherman Oaks, CA; son, John Green and wife Cindy Green of Peachtree City, GA; and daughter, Laura Green and Richard Anwyl of Fayetteville, GA; nieces, nephews; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A dedicated family man, proud veteran of World War II and an active member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan, he began his aviation career in 1948 with Northwest Orient Airlines and retired in 1986 as the district manager – Northwest Airlines, based in Atlanta.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a wake service at 7 p.m. lead by Deacon Don Kelsey at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan with Father Dan Fleming officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his memory.
