Mr. Dawson Thomas Moye Jr.

Obituary

Mr. Dawson Thomas Moye Jr., age 68, confident in the fact of the new life before him, peacefully slipped away to heaven in the early morning hours of Jan. 26, 2012. Dawson was born July 24, 1943, in Plattsville, New York.

He was the son of the late Dawson Thomas Moye Sr. and Willie Mae Newham Moye. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Lori Michelle Moye and Jeffery Thomas Moye, and a grandson, Jason Thomas Moye. Dawson Moye graduated from Forest Park High School in 1961. On Aug. 10, 1962, he married Sandra Roberts and for the next 49 years basked in the life they shared together -- joyous in the many good times they had and buoyed by their strong love and faith during those times that were difficult. The overriding theme in his life was always a great sense of thankfulness for all the times he shared with his family.

Mr. Moye spent his working years in retail sales. For 10 years he worked for Kroger foods in the level of store manager, and following that he was employed by Colonial Baking Company for 30 years and retired as retail sales manager for Atlanta, Tennessee and Alabama. He was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Roberts Moye of Newnan; a son, Timothy Dawson Moye and his wife Leigh of Grantville; a grandson, Christopher Dawson Moye of Grantville; brother, Carroll Moye of Grantville; and a great-grandchild, Joshua Raven Moye. The life of Dawson Thomas Moye Jr. will be remembered and celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Those who wish to honor Mr. Moye's memory may do so be memorial contributions to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291.
