Mr. Lawson Eugene (Gene) Chesnut

Lawson Eugene (Gene) Chesnut of Moreland, GA passed away on December 12, 2013.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patsy Billingsley Chesnut. He was born April 5, 1930 in the Chesnut family home in Moreland, GA to the late Lawson Todd and Fannie Mae Hughie Chesnut. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother J. T. Chesnut and his sisters Eleanor Meadows, Janie Thompson, Nancy Kirby, and Frances Swygert. He has one surviving sister, Electa Summers.

Gene Chesnut would share how much he cared for his family with a few verses from the book of Psalms. Psalms 127:3-5a "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb, a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!"

He led and served his whole life in his beloved church and cherished the church family at White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He was also a Mason affiliated with Bigham Lodge #53 F&AM in Moreland.

Mr. Chesnut was blessed to have five children; he had one son and four daughters. Gene was preceded in death by his daughter Wanda Chesnut Lambert. His other four children are Vallori Flournoy (Bobby) of Newnan, Lori Fincher (Greg) of Zebulon, Todd Chesnut (Rene) of Fayetteville, and Carol Robertson (Denny) or Moreland. Gene also has been blessed with an abundance of grandchildren and great grandchildren. His grandchildren are Craig Adams, Carla Sjostrom, Tabatha Mauriello, Chad Lambert, Drew Fincher, Holly Fincher, Kandy Chesnut, Libby Chesnut, Katlyn Robertson, Caleb Robertson, and Faith Robertson. His great grandchildren are Daniel Lambert, Emily Lambert, Elizabeth Mauriello, Layla Mauriello, Lawson Mauriello, Tristan Chiru-Danzer, Lauren Chiru-Danzer, Carson Pugh, and Camden Pugh.

The funeral service to honor Gene Chesnut's exemplary life will be on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at White Oak ARP church with Reverend Mackey Smith, Reverend Chuck Wilson and Reverend Rabun Williams officiating. The elders of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in the historic White Oak Presbyterian cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that Gene's memory be honored by a contribution to White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church's Building Fund 2796 Gordon Road, Senoia, GA 30276. Online condolences may be expressed atwww.mckoon.com.
