Mr. L.J. Lanier, age 95, of Newnan, Ga., died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012. Mr. Lanier was born Dec. 27, 1916, in Alabama. He was a veteran of World War II and the long-time owner of Lanier Used Cars in Newnan.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 28 between 5 and 7 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. The service will be Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Selma Yates Lanier; daughter, Judy Lanier Nalley and her husband Lawton of Atlanta; son, Stanley Lanier and his wife Debbie of Newnan; grandsons, Lanier Nalley, Jay Lanier and Charlie Lanier.
Also surviving are his sisters Brooksie Anderson and Helen Lovvorn; and sisters-in-law, Opal Beck, Jewell Walls and Betty Satterfield. It is requested that flowers be omitted and those who wish to honor Mr. Lanier's memory may do so by a memorial contribution to a charity of their choice.
