Death Notices

Cecil Herman Chappell, 83, of Newnan, died on October 23, 2009, at his residence. Services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the East Newnan Baptist Church. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carolyn Ann Konis, 72, of Newnan, died Friday, October 23, 2009. The memorial service is Tuesday, October 27, at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church.

Betsill L. Phillips, 77, of Newnan, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009. The funeral is today, October 25, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sargent Cemetery. The visitation was Saturday, 7-9 at the funeral home.

Charles Gary Port, 58, of Palmetto, died on Thursday, October 22, 2009. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Holly Hill Funeral Home. Services will be held at 4 p.m. today, October 25, in the chapel of the funeral home.

William Neal (Bill) Scott, 80, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Peachtree Christian Hospice. A memorial service will be held at Peachtree Christian Church on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends in Stew Wood Hall at 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Otis Ceylon "O.C." Thompson Sr., 90, died on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Newnan Nursing & Rehabilitation. The funeral service is today at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 2-4.
