He was later recruited to the Department of Adult and Technical Education as the Assistant Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Personnel. He then was promoted to the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget as assistant director where he retired.

Jerry spent every morning with his wife while enjoying retirement. The two would have coffee, read the paper, do the daily word jumble and enjoy morning walks. He enjoyed his retirement, playing golf with family and friends, traveling, spending time on the lake, and enjoying his mountain retreat.

Jerry will be remembered by the hundreds that love him for his intoxicating laugh, his joyful spirit, and his ability to laugh at himself and others. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to all who were privileged to know him. He has left a huge hole in the hearts of all that he has left behind.

Services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Geyer officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013, from 2 p.m. till service time.
