Mrs. Julia Mann Power

Mrs. Julia Mann Power, a lifelong resident of Newnan, died June 14, 2013, in Birmingham, Alabama, after a long illness. She was 92. 

A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church on Tuesday, June 18, at 2 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m. in Newnan, GA.

Known to all as Judy, Mrs. Power was born on Feb. 8, 1921, in Senoia and attended Newnan public schools and graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She worked as an elementary teacher and substitute teacher in Newnan and Coweta County schools.

Active in community affairs, Mrs. Power taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Newnan Junior Service League, a Girl Scout leader and a Gray Lady volunteer at Coweta General Hospital. An avid gardener and bridge player, she maintained strong ties to Newnan after moving to Chateau Vestavia in Birmingham to be near her daughter, Julia Power Henderson.

Mrs. Power was predeceased by her parents, Sara Fuller Mann and Arthur Pinkston Mann; her husband, Roy Keith Power Sr.; her son, Roy Keith Power Jr.; and two sisters, Bobbie Barron and Christine Mann.

In addition to her daughter, Julia Power Henderson and son-in-law Hugh, she is survived by two grandchildren, Collins Henderson Brown, husband Brad Brown, and Keith Henderson; nieces, Sally Partridge, Betsy Brown and Connie Sherrod; and nephew, Buddy Barron.
