Mr. Dempsey Marshall Humphries Jr.

Mr. Dempsey Marshall Humphries Jr., born Nov. 29, 1919, passed away peacefully at his home of 12 years, Wesley Woods of Newnan-Peachtree City on Friday, May 17, 2013.

Prior to moving to Newnan, GA, "Hump" lived in Toledo, Ohio, and served as president and chairman of the board during his 35 years with The Bostwick-Braun Co. A patriotic man who loved his country and served as a PT Boat commander in the Pacific in WWII and a part of the "greatest generation."

"Hump" was a true southern gentleman, born in Florence, Alabama. He graduated first in his class at the University of Alabama and was voted most likely to succeed… and he did… and he was a true "Tide" fan. He was a lifetime Rotarian and a member of the Newnan First United Methodist Church and the Martha Fuller Sunday School Class.

"Hump" loved boating, his mountain home in North Carolina, cards, golf, and was wild about jigsaw puzzles. His greatest loves were his family and dear friends and employees of Wesley Woods of Newnan.

"Hump" was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, "Gerry" and his dear later-life partner, Frances Duskin. He is survived by an adoring family: 3 daughters, Lynn (Gary) Borg of Peoria, AZ, Jane (Gardner) Jett of Peachtree City, GA, Joanie (Zach) Taylor of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Chris Jett, Chip Jett, Jay (Eva) Wojnowski, Chris (Liz) Borg, Ben Taylor, Maggie (Bobby) Raulerson; and great-grandchildren, Eric & Elise Wojnowski and Jon Raulerson.

Condolences can be expressed online at www.mckoon.com .

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wesley Woods Memorial Fund, 100 Lindsey Barron Drive, Newnan, GA 30265 or to Newnan First United Methodist Church-Martha Fuller Sunday School Class, 33 Greenville St., Newnan, GA 30263. A celebration of "Hump's" life, a life well lived, will be at the Wesley Woods Auditorium on Memorial Day, May 27 at 4 p.m.
