Mr. Thomas Melson
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Thomas Melson, age 61, will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel, Newnan. The Reverend Joe P. Geter, Eulogist.
Mr. Melson was born in Coweta County on Aug. 23, 1951, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Arrither and Sarah Melson. He departed this life on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
Thomas was educated in Newnan, Georgia, through the Coweta County School System. After graduating, he worked as a cement finisher in Atlanta.
He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1971, serving for six years. Befitting his personality, he was later employed by the United States Postal Service, where he eventually retired.
Thomas had a kind, considerate, and giving spirit. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and loved and supported his family.
Thomas enjoyed playing golf, billiards, boxing, and woodcarving. He was passionate about golf and played as much as he had the opportunity. He was a member of the Gorham Country Club for over 20 years.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Arrither “Buddy” Melson Sr.; a niece; and grandparents, Mr. Preach Melson, Mrs.Nellie Melson, Mr. Jessie Bailey, and Mrs. Sarah Bailey.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Mrs. Sarah Melson; six sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Georgia) Allen, Ms. Mattie Marchman, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard (Cleo) Young, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Frezelle) Ayoola, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie (Mildred) Reese, and Ms. Elaine Melson; and special friend, Wallace Person; four brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie (Roberta) Melson, Mr. and Mrs. Arrither Melson Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (Kim) Melson, and Mr. and Mrs. James (Shannon) Melson; loyal and supportive friends, Loyd, Charles, and Don; seven nieces; eight nephews; sixteen great-nieces; fifteen great-nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends
