Mr. Wilmer Mansel Carpenter
On April 30, 2013, Wilmer Mansel Carpenter passed away at his residence in Sharpsburg, GA at the age of 95. He is the son of the late Wilmer H. Carpenter & Lena Pettus Carpenter. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Brown Carpenter; son, Pete Horne; and son-in-law, Barry Couch.
He preached at several Churches of Christ in Alabama and Georgia. At the age of 90, he retired from Gordon Road Church of Christ after preaching there for 24 years. He is survived by his wife, Frances Jones Carpenter of Sharpsburg, GA; sister, Marion (Lowell) Sikes of Montgomery, AL; three sons, Edwin (Alice) of Madison, AL, Joe (LuAnn) of Auburn, AL, & Mark of Louden, TN; two daughters, Kathy (David) Bradley of Moreland, GA & Robin Couch of Senoia, GA. He has 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews that survive him.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 2, at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Jason Thompson & Ryan Manning speaking. Services in Alabama will follow at 2 p.m. Central Time at Ashland Church of Christ, 39815 Hwy. 177, Ashland, AL, with Gerald Romaine, David Rozelle & Edwin Carpenter conducting services. Burial will following at Clay County Memorial Gardens in Ashland, AL.
