Mrs. Janet Rae Panka
Mrs. Janet Rae Panka, 71, of Waxhaw, NC, died peacefully on April 29, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Janet Day. Born July 13, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio, Janet was the daughter of the late Wade and Mary Clapperton Summers.
A Celebration of Janet’s life was held on Wednesday, May 1 at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel, at 1 p.m. with Jimmy Wade officiating.
During her working career, Janet was a deli manager at Walmart and City Market, where she never met a stranger. She loved spending time at the beach, boating, music, sewing, square dancing, ceramics, playing Canasta, traveling, attending Tom Jones concerts, her pets, football, but, most importantly, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janet was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 30 years, Steve Panka. Survivors include: one son, Mike Snyder; five daughters, Melanie Powell, Kim Massey, Sherri McKenna, Janet Day and Stephanie Trivino; sister, Marjorie; mother-in-law, Alice Panka; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janet’s memory to NAMI – National Association of Mental Illness or the Humane Society of Newnan, Georgia.
