Mr. James 'Jim' Stringer
Mr. James "Jim" Stringer, 73, of Grantville, GA, formerly of Gay, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at home.
He was born March 23, 1941, in Rockmart, GA, to the late James Curtis Stringer & Margie Fuller Stringer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Winston Stringer and Tony Stringer.
Jim grew up in Rockmart, GA, and after graduating high school, he attended the University of Georgia where he won many awards on the wrestling team. After graduating from UGA, he went to work with Ford Motor Company, where he managed assembly lines and later worked closing assembly plants. He lived in Gay, GA, on the Flint River for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt and serve as a fishing guide on the Flint River. He was a member of Oak Lawn Baptist Church in Newnan.
The funeral is Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. David Arrington & Dr. Ken Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The visitation is Friday, 6-8 p.m., at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Oak Lawn Baptist Church, 482 Pine Road, Newnan, GA 30263.

Survivors include wife, Judy Pitts Stringer; son, Jimmy (Kellie) Stringer of Cumming; daughter, Starla Stringer of Buchanan; step-sons, Kelly (Jennifer) Pitts of Grantville, Todd (Danielle) Pitts of McDonough; grandchildren, Ryan Stringer, Jonathan Malone Pitts, Brody Pitts; brother, Eric (Joyce) Stringer of Powder Springs; sisters, Cheryl (Wayne) Stone of Yorkville, GA, Linda (Cliff) Matson of Alabama.
