Sara Faye Hubbard
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
And so it was with Sara Faye Hubbard on July 8, 2014 as she was enjoying a phone visit with her sister.
Sara was born in Talladega, Alabama and was one of 10 children of the marriage of James Anthony Hubbard and Katie Lou Thomas Hubbard. She was possessed of an unusually strong servant spirit with that rare empathy for others that made her a natural in her chosen career as a registered nurse.
For 30 years she gave the benefit of her knowledge and compassion to the patients at The Miami Veterans Administration Healthcare System. Even after her professional career had ended, she was always one to seek out those in need and be that caring soul in someone's life.
In all that she did for others, she never expected – or wanted – recognition. To know that someone's life had been made better by something she was able to do was reward enough for her.
She was most comfortable in the simple pleasures of life which included her tireless work for her church, her gardening; and, oh, yes, her fur family.
She is survived by her siblings, Nancy Tomlin Adkins, Ralph Harold Hubbard, Annie Katherine Burkhalter, DeVan H. Roberts, Gale H. Wood, Tony Hubbard, James Langdon Hubbard, Charlyn H. Loveless and Bethany Hubbard. As you could expect, there is a very large family of nieces, nephews and friends.
Her loving family invites you to join them on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home for a service to honor her exemplary life. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m.
The interment service for Sara will be on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. CST in the Hubbard Family Cemetery in Talladega, Alabama. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Roberts, Phillip Burkhalter, Kurt Wood, Dr. Jon Wood, Bard Tomlin and Ryan Glenn.
