Rev. Joe J. Storey

Rev. Joe J. Storey, age 88, of Newnan, died at Avalon Nursing and Rehab on June 10, 2014, after an extended illness. He was born in Coweta County on Jan. 22, 1926, to the late Joe James Storey Sr. and Mattie Pearl Howard Storey.

Mr. Storey was a World War II veteran and served on the Martin Van Buren that was sunk by a German U-Boat. He was a retired Church of God minister and worked for International Playtex for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Sue Meacham Storey, and a daughter, Lynne Storey Billingsley. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Rogers and her husband Mickey of Newnan; grandchildren, Michelle Aston, Teresa Turner, Shane Courtney, Tracy Kilmer, and Nicole George; 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 12 at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Bowen officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m.
