Mr. Ruben A. Crider
Mr. Ruben A. Crider, age 85, of Newnan, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014. He was born July 20, 1928, in Carroll County to the late Mr. Luther Crider and Mrs. Eunice Rigsby Cook. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and worked for Southwire Company as a forklift operator, where he later retired. He attended Shady Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Reece Cook; and a brother, Weems Cook. Survivors include his loving wife, Sarah Mote Crider of Newnan; daughters, Debra Clark (Dennis) of Newnan, Ann Kelley (Tim) of Newnan, and Karen Beal of McDonough; a son, Roy Varnadoe of Newnan; sisters, Shirley Terrell of Villa Rica and Jeanette Taylor of Carrollton; brothers, J.T. Cook of Bowdon and Julian Cook of Carrollton; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 15 at 4 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Randy Cochran, Will Cochran, Roy Varnadoe, Tim Kelley, Dennis Clark and Jared Ivester. The American Legion Post # 143 will perform the flag presentation.
