Mrs. Mildred Holland Smith
Mrs. Mildred Holland Smith, beloved wife of Carl Smith for 51 years, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on March 31, 2014. She fought a two-year battle of ovarian cancer with courage and bravery until the end; family members were by her side.
She was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church for 40-plus years and a faithful one until she was no longer able to attend. There she met and made many wonderful friends over the years.
She was born in Hall County, Georgia, December 23, 1943. The first-born to her parents, the late John and Susie Chambers Holland. She was a blessing to everyone she met, old or young. She believed in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, and encouraged others to accept and believe in Him as their own.
Mildred is survived by sons Stanley (wife Cindy) and Stacy (wife Jody).
She had so much love for her first-born grandchildren that she and Carl adopted them as their own at an early age, Cody (wife Bridget) and Katie (spouse Vince Ometz). She loved and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She enjoyed their visits at her home and out of the pontoon where she loved watching them swim, having a picnic or just having fun. Grandchildren are Zada, Zofia, Destinie, Hayden and twins Tanner and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Aniston, William and Bryson; sisters and their spouses, Carolyn (Lowell), Marlene (Stan), Jean (Nelson) and Shelia (Dean); brothers and their spouses, Tommy (Carol), Toby (Deb) and Jerry.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
