Ms. Martha Walls Lawson
Ms. Martha “Marti” Walls Lawson, 70, of Newnan passed away Friday, March 21, 2014. She was born Feb. 7, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Olen Lee Walls and Martha Bihr Walls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Howard Lawson Jr. and her son, Joseph Howard Lawson III. Marti grew up in Texas and graduated from the University of North Texas in 3 years with a Bachelor's Degree in French and English. After graduation, she moved to Paris, France, where she attended and graduated from The University of Paris-La Sorbonne. She was a retired educator who taught French and English for many years at The Heritage School in Newnan and Walton High School in Monroe. The graveside service is Tuesday, March 25, at 2 p.m. in Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery, 6413 Hwy. 54, Sharpsburg, GA 30277 with Dr. Gil Watson officiating. Rather than flowers, family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to The Heritage School, Les Citoyens du Monde French Scholarship, 2093 Hwy. 29 North, Newnan, GA 30263.
