Mr. Charles Mulvenna

Mr. Charles Mulvenna of Newnan, Georgia, returned to the Lord on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia complicated by Parkinson’s disease. He was 82.

Charles was born in Kearny New Jersey to Charles A. Mulvenna and Alice Wallace. The family returned to their native land of Scotland, where they resided until 1949, when Charles and his sister came back to the United States.

They were later joined by their three brothers and parents.

In 1962, he graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in Business Management after eight years of night school.

He had been working for Beneficial Management Corp and after graduation he accepted a position with Texaco Inc. in New York City where he was in the tax department.

In 1971, he was promoted to manager of taxes for Texaco in all the east coast states, and he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where the family still lives.

Charles was transferred to Houston, Texas, where he served Texaco as a tax counselor/consultant. He retired in 1989 and returned to Atlanta.

Being a supporter of the St. Vincent de Paul society, he founded a group at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and served as its founding president for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie McGuire Mulvenna, and their four children: Eileen McGann of Fayetteville, Georgia, Theresa Mulvenna of Newnan, Georgia, C. Chris Mulvenna of Newnan, and Kevin Mulvenna also of Newnan.

The surviving family includes eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Mulvenna of Florida and James Mulvenna of California.

He is survived by a sister, Jane Marshall of Arizona, and a brother, John W. Mulvenna of New Jersey.

Charles: a beloved man who will be greatly missed and always loved. PAX
