Carolyn Jean Bowers

Carolyn Jean Bowers gently left this life on Dec. 18, 2013.

A native of Newnan, she was born Oct. 9, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Gray Thomas and Callie Reynolds Bowers.

She graduated from Newnan High School and attended West Georgia College.

Carolyn went to work for The Manufacturers National Bank in 1948 and retired in 1992 after the bank became known as First Union Bank.

She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church of Newnan. Carolyn was a loyal caregiver to her mother and her family and friends were the focus of her life. She derived great joy from her interest in genealogy.

She is survived by her cousins, Karen Reynolds Martin, David Garnet Reynolds and William Barron Reynolds.

The service for Carolyn Bowers will be on Friday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Joel E. Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home between noon and 2 p.m.

It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to The Central Baptist Church Needlepoint Guild in care of Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1221, Newnan, GA 30264. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mckoon.com.
