Mrs. Opal M. Edwards

Mrs. Opal M. Edwards answered the bidding of the God who had nurtured her during the 87 years she had spent in service while on this earth.

Opal was born on May 11, 1926, in Williamson, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Linton C. Crowder and Mattie Buchanan Crowder. For 27 years she had been a dedicated member of Newnan First Baptist Church and during the last several years she was on the prayer chain committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, they were married on Aug. 8, 1953, and their marriage was blessed with three children, Joan Nelms and her husband Larry, Joyce Mays and her husband Mark, David Edwards and his wife Tamara. There are seven grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Cecil Crowder, Harold Crowder and Howard Crowder.

Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson St., Newnan, where the family will receive friends beginning at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. The funeral service will be in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel at 4 p.m. with Dr. Jimmy Patterson officiating.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Those who wish to do so may honor Mrs. Edwards’ life through donations to either the Alzheimer's Association or the First Baptist Church of Newnan.
