Mrs. Louise Almand Temples
Mrs. Louise Almand Temples passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.
Louise’s early life was traditional Atlanta. She was born Dec. 12, 1934, at the Station Hospital on Fort McPherson in East Point. Louise graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952 where she was a cheerleader. She was a member of the East Atlanta Assembly #8 and Grand Worthy Advisor of the Georgia Grand Assembly of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls in 1954. In 1957, Louise graduated from Agnes Scott College, where she was a member of the Organ Guild, Chi Beta Phi, and the Dolphin Club. During this time, she met her future husband, John, a student at Georgia Tech and member of Kappa Sigma.
Louise resided in Decatur, GA, and was a member of University Heights United Methodist Church for many years. She worked at Southern Bell in Atlanta then later at Gulf Life Insurance in Jacksonville, FL, and Nashville, TN. Later in life, she lived in Woodstock and Newnan, GA.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband, John Hudson Temples Jr., and parents, Alva Hanson & Rubye Harmon Almand Sr. Louise is survived by a brother, Alva H. Almand Jr. & Barbara of Florissant, MO; sister-in-law, Susan Jones & Ev of Wake Forest, NC; four children, John H. Temples III & Patricia of Decatur, Dan Temples & Mia of Woodstock, Ann Temples Lindsey & Rob of Newnan, and Ed Temples & Mikie of Jacksonville, FL; and six grandchildren Cole, Callie, Erin, Hudson, Faith, and Evan. A 4 p.m. visitation and 5 p.m. memorial service is being held at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan today, Nov. 13, officiated by Pastor Scott McInnis of WellSpring Senoia Church.
