Mr. Andy Phillip Thompson
Mr. Andy Phillip Thompson, age 61, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away Oct. 30, 2013, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
Andy was a graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in English. Like his father and brother, Andy was involved in many aspects of the timber business. In recent years, Andy handled different areas of his family’s business.
Andy was an avid music lover and collector, as well as a talented musician. He mastered the guitar, saxophone, piano, drums, and many other instruments.
He especially enjoyed talking about the old days with family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Frank Thompson Jr.; his mother, Estelle Vineyard Thompson; and his brother, John Frank Thompson III. Survivors include his soulmate, Bonnie Kline; sisters, Donna Copeland (Larry) and Heidi Hearn (Kevin); sister-in-law, Suzanne Thompson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Amy, Daniel and Luke Thompson, Brandon, Nate, and Ben Copeland, Katie and Ginny Hearn, Shawn and Brent Stiehl (Dawn), Clay, Erin, and Adam McLeod. Andy is also survived by uncles, Joe Thompson (June) and Morgan Vineyard; aunts, Camilla Summers and Cornelia Cox; and by his cousins and many, many friends. Andy was blessed to be involved in the upbringing of young Brandon Kline. Andy was devoted to his many pets, and will be greatly missed by his dog Elvis and cat Chloe. He was an animal lover, and never met a stray he didn't take in.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a church or charity of your choice. Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. at Ramah Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Bobo and Rev. Jeff Merritt officiating. Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at www.parrottfuneralhome.com. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. at the church.
