Mr. Thomas Woodrow Morgart
Mr. Thomas Woodrow Morgart, a faithful servant of the Lord and minister of the Gospel for over 40 years, entered into eternal life on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013.
Tom was a man known for loving people with his big heart. He was ordained into the Christian ministry on Dec. 31, 1972, and graduated from Atlanta Christian College the following year. While at ACC, Tom served as youth minister of the Central Christian Church in Atlanta and the First Christian Church in Jonesboro, GA.
Tom was then called to serve as senior minister of the West Hills Christian Church in Coraopolis, PA, just west of Pittsburgh. After a fruitful 16-year ministry in Pennsylvania, Tom and his family moved back to Georgia in 1991 when he was called to return to the First Christian Church in Jonesboro as senior minister. Tom also worked as a forwarding agent for Burton Doyle.
In recent years, Tom shared his genuine love and compassion for people as a hospice chaplain in metro Atlanta. He will always be loved and remembered for his devotion to family and friends, his faith in Jesus Christ and his many selfless acts of service to others. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Tyrone. Family received friends on Monday evening at the funeral home.
Interment services will be held on Saturday in Toronto, Ohio.
Tom is survived by his wife, Gail Morgart of Newnan; mother, Shirley J. Aldridge of Palmetto; son, Sam Morgart and his wife Stacey of Sharpsburg; daughters, Kimi Cater and her husband Brent of Palmetto and Nicole Harbin and her husband Jeff of Alpharetta; sister, Shirl White and her husband Jim of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Makenna and Emily Morgart and Michael and Clara Harbin; niece, Rachel White and nephew Brian White.
