Mrs. Bessie Eudora Dooley Richardson

Bessie Eudora Dooley Richardson, 108, died October 25, 2013, at Serenity Hospice in Atlanta, Ga. 

A native of Maury County, Tennessee, Bessie was born on Oct. 16, 1905, to Charlie Irving Dooley and Frances Luella Scott Dooley. One of ten children, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters, as well as a grandson, Joseph Graham Wildsmith.

On Dec. 24, 1923, she married Joel Davidson Richardson. As a young woman she worked as a telephone operator. For many years she and Joe lived on a farm in the Bigbyville community in Maury County, where she enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. 

When they moved to Columbia, she continued to have beautiful flowers. In 1995, Mrs. Richardson moved to Newnan, GA, to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Al Kennedy, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Richardson was a member of the Newnan Church of Christ. For over 55 years previously, she was a faithful member of the West 7th Street Church of Christ in Columbia, TN. The ladies Bible classes at both congregations were very important to her.

Mrs. Richardson has been a resident of Emeritus, previously Georgian Place, for 13 years. Her family appreciates very much the care and love she has received there.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her daughters, Nancy Jo (Fred) Wildsmith of Smyrna, TN, and Sandra (Al) Kennedy of Newnan, GA. ; grandsons, Tom (Sally) Wildsmith of Damascus, Maryland, and Andy (Karen) Kennedy of Newnan, GA.; granddaughters, Alice (Craig) Jackson and Elizabeth Brownlee of Newnan, GA, and Amy (Randy) Nelson of Smyrna, TN; great grandchildren, Joseph and Mary Wildsmith of Damascus, MD., Kirk and Ryan Nelson of Smyrna, TN, Cole and Oren Kennedy, and Christopher, Madison, and Jacob Brownlee of Newnan, GA.

A graveside service for Mrs. Richardson will be held in Columbia, TN, on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at 1 p.m. and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the Newnan Church of Christ at 3 p.m. with Craig Jackson officiating.
