Pastor Charles W. Tate
Pastor Charles W. Tate, 82, of Newnan, GA, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 28, 1931, in Walker County, GA.
Charlie grew up the son of a sharecropper in rural Georgia and was called into the ministry after his service in the U.S. Navy. He received his seminary education at Temple University. The last church he served as pastor was White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. After his retirement, he was an active member of Welcome Road Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who was always working outside farming or gardening. Pastor Charlie loved The Lord and wanted everyone else to know and love The Lord as well.
The funeral is Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Odom officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The visitation is Saturday evening between 6 - 8 at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan.
