Beulah Morris Griffies

Beulah Morris Griffies peacefully left her earthly life behind at the age of 94. She was born in Cleburne County, Alabama, on March 16, 1920, and was the last surviving child of 12 born to the marriage of the late Jim M. and Lulu White Morris.

She was well-known in Newnan to many of her generation as a sales clerk at Kessler's in downtown Newnan and as a dedicated member of East Newnan Baptist Church. At the time of her death she was the oldest surviving member of the church. She had lived most of her adult life in the Moreland community.

She is survived by her children, Gerald Griffies of Newnan, Jerry Griffies and his wife Audrey of Marietta, Larry Griffies and his wife Judy of Moreland, Charles Griffies of Moreland and Rita McAfee and husband Danny of Newnan. She was the proud grandmother to eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, including Savannah and Mollie, who were especially nurtured by her sweet spirit.

Her exemplary life will be recalled at her funeral service which will be on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Powers officiating. Interment will be in Southview Cemetery in Moreland.
