Mrs. Mary Clyde (Johns) Madaris

Mrs. Mary Clyde (Johns) Madaris, age 92, of Newnan, GA, died on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John Madaris; parents, Barney and Nancy Johns; brother, Clifford "Buddy" Johns; sisters, Lillie Mae Cargal and Frances Harris; nephews, Stephen Johns and Dr. William Dewey Kitchens. She is survived by her sister, Doris Olmstead; nephews, Anthony Olmstead, Pete Harris, Gordon S. Cargal; nieces, Nancy Ann Van Hutten, Regina Arroya, Carla Cargal. Clyde was born in 1921 in Hogansville, GA, and moved to Newnan in 1946. She worked at the East Newnan Cotton Mill and also at Bell Aircraft during World War II, where her duties as "Rosie the Riveter" included the electrical wiring of aircraft.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. J.C. Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
