Mr. James 'Jim' Railey
James "Jim" Railey, 91, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013, at his home in Newnan. He was born June 26, 1922, in Carrollton, GA, to the late Willie Morgan Railey & Hattie Phillips Railey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Jimmy Railey & Terrell Railey; and granddaughter, Lisa Beck.
Mr. Railey was a Drill Sergeant in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was an avid golfer who worked as a starter at Mystery Valley Golf Club in Stone Mountain. He was a member of Canongate on White Oak in Newnan. He was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church.
The funeral is Monday, August 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Duncan & Rev. Jimmy Lee officiating. The visitation is Sunday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan, GA. Interment is Tuesday at noon at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Pkwy, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.

Survivors include wife, Joyce Hadaway Railey; children, Phyllis Beck, Deborah Free, Tim Railey, Mickey Railey, Tony Railey, Patricia Hales, Karen Railey; sister, Sylvania Hendrix; brother, Rudolph Railey; grandchildren, Sherry Maltbie, Todd Beck, Jennifer Free, Rachel Free, Pamela Fortner, Amanda Hales, Emily White, Meagan Railey; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
