Mr. James W. Williams Jr.

Mr. James W. Williams Jr., age 74, of Newnan, GA, died Aug. 16, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 24 at Mount Vernon First Baptist Church, 54 Pinson St., Newnan, GA. In-state viewing will begin at 11 a. m. Viewing and visitation were Friday, Aug. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Online condolences maybe expressed to the family at www.roscoejenkinsfuneralhome. com. James Williams Jr. was the oldest son born to Mary Hatcher Williams and James W. Williams Sr. on Aug. 9, 1939, in Newnan, the county of Coweta, State of Georgia. He left this Earth to be with his Lord on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2013.

James was raised in strong family with love and support, a belief that he could accomplish whatever he wanted. He was intelligent, inquisitive about the world. He went to school in the Coweta County Public School system in which he completed both his primary and secondary education. For higher learning he attended Savannah State University.

He spent six months in Connecticut on job training and upon his return to Newnan he started working for Owens Corning, where he worked for over 26 years.

He was married to Rosa Kate Phillips, and from their union was born Vanessa Williams. Together with Rosa Kate's son Dr. Cedric Barnes I, they formed a family.

He was later married to Catherine Ogletree, forming a family with her daughter, Trena Render.

James was a devout member of Mr. Vernon First Baptist Church and served as a member of the Trustee Board until his passing.

He is preceded in glory by his wife, Rosa Kate; his mother, Mary Hatcher Williams; father, James W. Williams Sr.; and sister, Margaret Wright.

His memory will be cherished by daughter, Vanessa; daughter, Trena; son, Dr. Cedric Barnes I (Monique); and sisters, Bessie Brown and Mary Roberts; grandchildren, Jaquez Williams, Joshua Barker, Cydney Barnes, Cedric Barnes; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving and supportive friends.
