Mr. Marvin R. Ellison

Mr. Marvin R. Ellison, age 85, died August 12, 2013, following a long illness. He was born in Fayette County, Georgia, July 20, 1928, one of five children born to the late J.Ralph and Mamie Flowers Ellison. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Sam Ellison. His son, Marvin 'Craig' Ellison, also preceded him in death in 2005.

Marvin served in the Army during The Korean War and made 35 parachute jumps during his time in the service. During his working career, he spent 35 years with The Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Atlanta. After his retirement from Coca-Cola, he spent 10 years with The Newnan Water and Light utility in the water department.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Christine Ayers Ellison. His children are Regina (and Fred) Lange and Gordie (and Vikki) Ellison. Also surviving are his siblings, Lucy Ellison, Sandra (and Gary) Hubbard, Calvin (and Marie) Ellison. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson St., Newnan, where the family received friends on Tuesday evening between 6 and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Udell Addison and Reverend Jimmy Ellison officiating.
