Mrs. Margaret Brown Anthony

Mrs. Margaret Brown Anthony of Newnan, Georgia, died peacefully on July 10, 2013 at age 84. She was born in Coweta County, and returned to Newnan after having lived in East Point, Atlanta, and South Fulton County. She retired from the Georgia Power Company in 1984 after 23 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Mr. Theo Brown Anthony Jr., and by her parents, Mr. John Edward (Eddie) Brown and Mrs. Blanche Staples Brown. She is survived by her two children, Mr. Edward Brown (Ellen Dyer) Anthony of Lake Charles, LA, and Mrs. Susan Anthony (William McDonald) Martin of Locust Grove, GA; and by a sister, Mrs. Rose Brown (James) Mask of Fayetteville, GA. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Mr. Henry Joseph Anthony of Denver, CO, Mrs. Melissa Martin (Mitchell Langley) Baker of Tiger, GA, and Mr. William McDonald Martin III and Ms. Pamela Susanne Martin, both of Locust Grove, GA; and a niece, Mrs. Alice Coggin of Franklin, GA.

Margaret Anthony loved her life among friends and neighbors in Newnan, she cherished being "Nana" to her grandchildren, and she enjoyed excursions and camaraderie with fellow Georgia Power retirees.

The family wishes to express thanks to many who gave care and companionship to Margaret during her waning years, and especially to Mrs. Georgia Mae Teagle whose devotion and concern were unsurpassed. Finally, to the staff at Ansley Park Health and Rehabilitation, we express our deepest gratitude for an unbelievable level help and compassion, right to the very end.

Visitation with the family will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street beginning at noon on Sunday, July 14, prior to the funeral service at 2 p.m. and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mckoon.com . McKoon Funeral Home, 770-253-4580.
