Mr. Bobby Leonard Dean
Mr. Bobby Leonard Dean, age 73, of Roopville, GA, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Tanner Medical Center.
He was born May 5, 1939, in Miami, Florida, to the late Mr. Leonard Dean and Velma Adams Dean.
He retired from Douglas & Lomason after serving 19 years as a machine operator in the metal fabrication industry.
He was a member at Temperance United Methodist Church. He loved being in the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing. He also had a passion for restoring old cars, with a talent for mechanics.
Mr. Dean valued the importance of love and respect, in which he expressed daily to everyone in his family and his beloved dog, Maggie. It was obvious to anyone who came in contact with him that he cherished his loved ones.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Sarah Whitis and Shirley Eason; and grandson, LCpl Jonathan Smith, who was killed in action June 6, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Dean; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Gary Smith of Eva, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and David Brown of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Karen Dean of Roopville; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Chadwick of Franklin, Ga.; daughter, Tammy Dean of Roopville; nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Mr. Jim Bo Henry, Mr. Jesse Henry, and Mr. Steve Chadwick officiating. Pallbearers will be David Brown, Steve Chadwick, Gary Smith, Jeremy Brown, Michael Frasier, and Skip Reeves. Interment will follow in the Centralhatchee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, March 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
