Mrs. Ava Nell Bell, age 95, of Sharpsburg, GA, gently left this world in the late evening hours of March 4, 2013.
She was born in Meriwether County to the late Willie and Maude Strickland Cook.
Her husband, Loy Albert Bell, preceded her in death in 1990. Also predeceasing her were her son, Julian Bell; her sisters, Myrtle Cook Evans and Loretta Cook Carlisle; brothers, Marvin Cook and Ellis Cook.
She worked as a seamstress for International Playtex Corporation for 19 years. She was a member of Turin Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her children, Allyn and his wife Brenda Bell of Moreland, Charlene and her husband Bud Carter of Newnan, Marie and her husband Mickey Butler of Sharpsburg, Bobby and his wife Mary Ann Bell of Newnan, Forrest and his wife Angelyn Bell of Newnan.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sarah Bell Fey, who has so unselfishly provided loving care and a nurturing home environment to her mother-in-law during her illness. Also surviving are her siblings, Bill Cook of Luthersville and Estene Boykin of Suffolk, VA. Her legacy in life, in addition to her children, would be that she cherished her 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 6 between 5 and 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be on Thursday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at The Turin Baptist Church with Reverend John McDuffie and Pastor Danny Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Turin Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Turin Baptist Church, P.O. Box 99, Turin, GA 30289.
