Jimmy Buren Lassetter, 45, of Newnan, died at Grady Memorial Hospital Burn Unit in Atlanta on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.
He was born in Newnan on March 1, 1967, to George Buren Lassetter and Jacqueline Dyer Lassetter. Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Lassetter and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Dyer, all of Newnan.
His parents were previous owners of Lassetter Transport, Coweta Gas Co., Troup County Gas Co., and Meriwether County Gas Company. Jimmy began working with his Daddy at 12 years of age in May 1979 and continued to do so for over 35 years.
Jimmy eventually opened Lassetter Propane LLC. in Cedartown.
Jimmy was a member and deacon at Unity Baptist Church and worked extensively on the new worship center and adjoining facilities.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Lori Lassetter of Newnan; sons, Devin Buren Lassetter (Holly) of Newnan and Thomas Dyer Lassetter (Ashley); daughter, Lindsay Lorraine Lassetter, all of Newnan; sister, Daphne Lassetter Eskew (Kenneth) of Newnan; grandchildren, Addyson and Ayla Lassetter; father-in-law, James A. Griffeth (Bernice) of LaGrange; mother-in-law, Linda Marsh Hughes of Newnan; brothers-in-law, Hugh Griffeth (Sherrie) of Manchester, Al Griffeth (Renee) of McEwen, TN., Jeremy Hughes of Newnan, Denny Ray Thomas (Marla) of LaGrange and Russell Stapp (Koren) of LaGrange; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Flemming, Pastor Danny Wilson and Dr. Phil Pilgrim officiating. Remains will be placed in state at the church at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers for the service will be Rickey Payton, Jack Lassetter, Joey Lyle, Doug Chanel, Jeff Duncan and Al Griffeth. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Eskew, Denny Ray Thomas and Cary Jackson.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Unity Baptist Church today, Saturday, from 5-8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or the family has requested memorial contribution to Unity Baptist Church, 311 Smokey Road, Newnan, GA 30263.
