Mr. Richard Lamar Carnes, age 93, of Whitesburg, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.
Mr. Carnes was born in Paulding County, Ga., on Dec. 26, 1918, the son of the late James Calvin Carnes and Cassie Grace Holland Carnes.
He worked at Georgia Power, having retired on March 1, 1986, and attended the Whitesburg Methodist Church.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Wyndel and Gail Carnes of Whitesburg; grandchildren, Kati and Chris Farmer, Holly and Josh Garner; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Wyatt and Cooper Farmer; sisters, Madelyn Pate, Imogene Harris, Evelyn Atchison, Wannie White; devoted niece, Camilla Stevens-Cooper and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Richards Carnes to whom he married on Feb. 8, 1941, and a son, Lanny Lamar Carnes.
The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Alvin Hunnicutt officiating. Music will be by Judy Hunnicutt.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Pate, Wilson Pate, Ken Yearta, Ricky Carnes, Bob Bryant and Jimmy Carnes. Honorary pallbearers will be Horace Jones and Lawrence Vines.
Interment will be in the Whitesburg Cemetery.
