Mrs. Olive Garner Bridges
Mrs. Olive Garner Bridges, age 93, died after an extended illness on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.
Her parents were the late Albert Garner and Mattie Lee Smith Garner of Whitesburg. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanford A. Bridges; a son, Kenneth Bridges; her siblings, James Garner, Nadine Garner Housworth, Bill Garner and Irma Garner Crawley.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Bridges Johnson, Cheryl Bridges (and Doug) Sheppard of Newnan, and Tom Bridges of Carrollton. Her grandchildren are Ben Bridges (and Marjorie) of Raleigh, NC, and Karen Johnson Stapleton of Newnan. Her great-grandchildren are Aaron and Nathan Stapleton of Newnan and Garner Bridges of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street in Newnan.
Visitation is Monday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. The funeral service is Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Ken Norton officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
While flowers are a lovely remembrance, the family requests that they be omitted and Mrs. Bridges' memory be honored by contributions in her memory to Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, 918 Providence Road, Newnan, GA.
