Mr. Richard F. Smith, 70, of Grantville, GA, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1942, in Coweta County, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Otis Levi Smith and Cora Inez Crider Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Coweta County, was a member of the Baptist church, and retired as bulk distribution manager for Davis Oil Co. in Newnan. He loved hunting and fishing, was an avid golfer, and especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Smith of Grantville; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Johnny Thacker of Newnan, Melinda and Tom Staley of Greenville; sons and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Lisa Smith of Grantville, Chris Smith of Newnan; sisters, Rosie Fallon of Grantville, Mary Ellen Gosdin of LaGrange; brother, Otis Smith of Grantville; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, J.C. Smith.
The funeral is 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, Hogansville. Rev. Tommy McLeroy will officiate and interment will be in Grantville Cemetery.
