Mrs. Lillian Ferrell Hammock, age 88, of Newnan, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012. She was born in Coweta County on Dec. 11, 1923, to the late Robert L. Ferrell and Rebecca Sprayberry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Eugene Hammock; her sister, Florine Coggin; and her brother, Duke L. Ferrell.
Lillian was a lifelong resident of Newnan. She dearly loved her home, taking care of her family, cooking, sewing and working in her yard. She was a faithful member of the Newnan First United Methodist Church, where she was a devoted member of the Veatch-Nixon Sunday school class.
After retiring from working at Newnan Hospital for 22 years, she enjoyed volunteering as a Pink Lady at the hospital for many years. Her abiding faith and the love of her family helped her to persevere through the many challenges that being blind for the last nine years of her life brought to her. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many special friends who called & visited with her each week.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Frank) Barron and Harriett Dees; five grandchildren who affectionately called her “Mate,” Robin Mann, Daniel Barron, Julie Sherrer, Chris Dees and Brent Dees. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 1 from noon to 2 p.m. at the McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Med Roach and Rev. Gary Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
