Mrs. Dorothy McCown Smith
Dorothy McCown Smith passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Fairhaven Assisted Living in Brunswick, GA, after a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease. She moved to Brunswick three years ago to be closer to family.
Dorothy spent most of her life in Atlanta, Georgia, where she engaged in a long career in real estate.
She and her husband had many close friends. She loved animals and provided a home to many homeless cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and F.E. McCown Sr.; her husband, Paul Wayne Smith; her sister, Rosalyn; and her brother, F.E. McCown Jr.
She is survived by her brother, Charles (Edith); nieces, Charlotte Jones, Dona Greech (Charles); and several grand nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan GA.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hartland Hospice, 664 Scranton Road, Unit 3, Brunswick, GA, 31525.
