Roy Lee Owens Jr.
A Tribute of Life Service in memory of Co-Pastor Roy Lee Owens Jr., age 63, of Newnan, Georgia, will be held Friday, April 27, 2012, 1 p.m. at St. Smyrna Baptist Church, Reverend Tamarkus T. Cook, pastor, Reverend Julius Heron, eulogist. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 26 in the Sellers-Smith RWS Memorial Chapel, 6-8 p.m.
Co-Pastor Roy Owens Jr. was born Sept. 16, 1948, in Newnan, Georgia, to the late Roy and Louvonia Owens Sr. The seventh of eight children, he joined his parents, three brothers, three sisters and the Lord in Heaven on April 21, 2012. Co-Pastor Owens was educated in the Coweta County Public School System and graduated from Central High School in Newnan in 1966. His love for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding lead him to the spiritual University of Jesus Christ.
He was united in holy matrimony to Martha Turner in 1969. Two sons and two daughters were born of this union.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age at Summer Hill Baptist Church in Moreland, Georgia, under the leadership of Rev. J.T. Coleman. Having a higher call on his life to declare the word of God, he became a faithful servant to the ministry of Powerful Truth Global International Church in Atlanta, Georgia, under the leadership of Pastor Yvonne Cuffee.
In 2008, he became the co-founder and pastor of Powerful Truth Word of Faith Ministries in Newnan, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish the legacy of faith, love for family, and beautiful memories, his wife, Pastor, Dr. Martha Owens of Newnan, GA; two sons, Troy Owens Sr. (Carmisha), Reginald Owens; one daughter, Marcie Owens, all of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Troy Owens Jr., LaNiya Owens, Markell Bridges, Justin Owens, Alisia Owens, LaDeja Owens, JaZaria Hudson, Jakeera Hudson and Joshua Hudson; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and church family.
