In recent ceremonies at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, graduating cadets were awarded commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.
Jordan Brice Smith earned a bachelor of business administration degree and commissioned into the field artillery. He is the son of George and Robin Smith of Belton, S.C. He graduated from Newnan High School in Newnan in 2006.
North Georgia is one of only six senior military colleges in the nation. Participation in the Corps of Cadets, also known as the Boar's Head Brigade, offers the opportunity to acquire a degree on a chosen field of study while simultaneously earning and officer's commission in the U.S. Army, either active, guard or reserve.
Air Force Airman Christopher A. Davis graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Davis is the son of Inez Keizs of Newnan.
The airman is a 2003 graduate of East Coweta High School.
